Keeping Your Plants Healthy in a Challenging Climate
Nebraska and Iowa's climate creates perfect storms for plant stress. Hot, humid summers encourage fungal diseases. Harsh winters damage evergreens with desiccation. Spring freeze-thaw cycles stress root systems. Our alkaline, clay soils tie up nutrients that plants need for pest resistance. Stressed plants become magnets for every problem in the neighborhood.
Professional treatment applications help prevent problems from establishing in the first place.

Our Specialized Treatment Programs
Emerald Ash Borer Management
Every Ash tree in our area is under attack. Emerald Ash Borer has killed millions of Ash trees across the Midwest, but early intervention with systemic treatments can protect healthy specimens for years.
Our EAB treatment program uses trunk injection methods that deliver insecticide directly into the tree's vascular system. Treatments last 2-3 years and must begin before trees show significant decline. Once EAB damage becomes visible, treatment success rates drop dramatically.
Scale Insect Control
Oystershell scale, soft scale, and armored scale species attack ornamental trees and shrubs throughout the metro area. These tiny insects drain plant energy while producing honeydew that encourages sooty mold growth.
Our scale treatment program targets vulnerable life stages with properly timed applications. Systemic treatments provide season-long protection, while contact sprays address active infestations on sensitive plants.
Bagworm Management
Bagworms devastate evergreen trees and shrubs, particularly Arborvitae, Juniper, and Spruce. Heavy infestations can kill mature evergreens in a single season since evergreens can't regenerate foliage like deciduous plants.
Early detection and treatment are critical. Young bagworms respond to targeted sprays, but mature bagworms in protective cases require different approaches. We monitor bagworm development and apply treatments during vulnerable periods.
Leaf Spot Disease Prevention
Anthracnose, black spot, and other leaf spot diseases thrive in Nebraska's humid spring conditions. These diseases weaken plants and create unsightly defoliation that stresses trees for the entire growing season.
Preventive fungicide applications before symptoms appear provide better control than treatment after diseases establish. We time applications based on weather conditions and disease development patterns.
Iron Chlorosis Correction
Alkaline soils throughout the Omaha area tie up iron, creating the yellowing (chlorosis) commonly seen in Pin Oaks, River Birch, and acid-loving shrubs. Standard fertilizers don't address iron availability in high-pH soils.
Our iron treatment program uses chelated iron formulations that remain available in alkaline conditions. Soil injection methods deliver iron directly to root zones for maximum uptake and longest-lasting results.
Aphid & Soft-Bodied Insect Control
Aphids, spider mites, and thrips attack stressed plants during hot summer conditions. These pests reproduce rapidly and can overwhelm plants before damage becomes visible.
Systemic treatments provide season-long protection against soft-bodied insects while preserving beneficial predator populations. Targeted contact sprays address breakthrough populations without disrupting biological control.
Integrated Pest Management Approach
Our treatment programs start with proper plant selection, practices that promote plant health, and monitoring that detects problems early when treatments are most effective.
Biological Control Integration
Many pest problems have natural predators that provide excellent control when not disrupted by unnecessary pesticide applications. We preserve beneficial insect populations while managing pest species.
Resistance Management
Rotating treatment modes of action prevents pest populations from developing resistance to control materials. This keeps treatments effective long-term while reducing application frequency.
Environmental Consideration
All treatments are applied according to label requirements with consideration for pollinators, beneficial insects, and environmental sensitivity. We use targeted applications rather than broadcast treatments whenever possible.
